Facebook Services Tab

Have you spotted the Services tab on your Facebook Business Page? It’s now located in your list of tabs that appear underneath the cover photo of your Page when viewing on desktop. Pages that don’t have a physical location included in their About section do seem to have the Services tab option. But it’s a bit of a mixed bag with Pages that having a Place (physical address and map) included in their About section. Some have this option and others do not.

(If you need or want to change your Page’s template, click on Settings –> Templates and Tabs. This area is also where you can change the order of the tabs you have active on your Facebook Business Page or turn tabs on or off.)

Facebook Services Tab

First, locate your Services tab from the horizontal navigation menu located beneath your Facebook Page cover photo. It’s possible it’s located under the More drop down menu.

Facebook Services Tab updated layout

When you click on the Services tab, you’ll be given the option to click to Add a Service.

Click to add a service to your Facebook Page

When you fill out a Service, you are given a 40-character Service name, the ability to add a Price, and include a 600-character Service description. You also have a space to add a(n optional) photo. You can designate the time your service lasts. If time isn’t relevant for your service, you can choose not to show that field.

Complete Facebook Service Fields

You can reorder your Services once you’ve added them to your Facebook Page by dragging and dropping into your preferred order. You can edit or delete posted Services, too. Click on the grey down arrow to the right of the Service name to do so.

Edit Facebook Services

If you have a Service that is only applicable seasonally, you can simply choose to turn off that Service instead of deleting it. Click on the toggle switch next to “Show Service”.

Show Facebook Service

You can also show or hide an existing Service from the main Services tab view.

Show or Hide tab on Facebook Service tab

To add a photo to a Service, you have the option between uploading from your computer or choosing a photo already posted to your Facebook Business Page. The photo is limited to a square shape. This creates some additional branding opportunities if you customized your Service photos.

Add photo to Facebook Service

Notice on the left side, you have the option to Publish your Services once you are ready. Once you publish your Services tab, it will be visible to everyone else on Facebook.

Publish Facebook Services Tab

Once published, when you visit your Facebook Page, you will see a maximum of 3 Services shown, and the option to click a link to See All. This appears on your Facebook Page’s Timeline, above your most recent published status update.

Published list of Facebook Services

Granted, the vast majority of people only ever see or interact with posts published by your Facebook page, in their News Feeds, but for those who do visit your Facebook Page or find your business’ Page via Google search, this is a helpful addition.

      Hi Andrew,

Have you tried clicking on the “More” tab on your Facebook Page to reveal the drop down menu? Try there first and see if the Service tab is an option. Hope that helps!

I am able to “Add a Service” but the photos that I want included with each service post won’t save. How come? Do I need to do something more? Am I missing a step? Thanks in advance for your insight!

      Hi Katie,

What image file type are you trying to use? And are you trying to upload an image from your computer or choose from the images already on your Page?

Sometimes Facebook is flukey and it’s a matter of waiting a day and trying again.

      Thanks!

      Hi Shelly,

From your Facebook Page, click to “see all”. Then there is a grey down arrow that sits to the right of each service name. If you click on that, you can edit it.

If you need further assistance, please email us at Info@EliRose.com. Thanks!

Do you have to be on a desktop to set this up??
I’ve filled out everything and listed my business as local but I have no services tab. No option to publish or anything.

      Hi Shawn,

There are definite limitations to the mobile app, especially with things like changing Settings and features like this. I’d recommend sitting down at your laptop or desktop computer to give it a try. These instructions are for desktop. If you keep running into problems, send us an email at Info@EliRose.com. Thanks!

Does this apply to companies that offer products and not services too?

      Hi Shannon!

If you sell your products online, you can set up a Shop on your Facebook Page. Once you do, you’ll also be able to tag photos in your posts with the items in your Shop. So the short answer is yes, but the Shop and Services are 2 different functionalities. Hope that helps! Thanks!

I’m trying to include a link within the description of a service. However, facebook is not recognizing it as a hyperlink, and thus clients can’t click on it to be redirected to my website. Is there a trick of doing this?

    • The E R Team

Hi Izabela! Currently, you cannot add a clickable link to a Service. Facebook has been rolling out its Shop feature for those with e-commerce sites and is adding ways to allow customers to book time/services through the Call to Action button located at the top of the Page, near the cover photo. They currently only have a couple integrations available but more are coming soon. Hope that helps!

I have set up my services on the desktop version in the correct order I want but when I look at my page on the mobile app it has completely jumbled up the services so they are all in the wrong order – can I correct this??

      Hi Sophie,

Unfortunately, I’m unaware of any way to correct this at this time. Our Services are listed in a different order on mobile than they are on desktop as well. Facebook’s mobile app experience lacks in comparison to its desktop experience in a lot of ways.

thee seems to be no way of getting the service tab on our business page ,we have two outlets 50miles apart. on cromer eyecare we have the service tab and on huntanton eyecare we don’t all things in about the same.
There is no reason for this other than a failed system in software

Can you only have one representaitive image per service? When you add a service andgo to add images it say photos, rather than photo, and lets you select multiple images. However, I can’t see more than one image per service?

      Hi Neil,

Yes, you can only show 1 image per service. At least for right now. 🙂 Facebook doesn’t stay 1 way for long. I’d love it if Facebook let you include a live link from each Service.

Thanks for confirming. It’s only a small detail but they should really make it obvious you can only upload one image.

I am not seeing the services I’ve entered when I look at my page on the Facebook iPhone app. Is this the case currently or is there something I can do to make this happen. I set the toggle to visible on the services edit page and can see them on the desktop version… Thanks!

      Hi Adam,

Yes, the mobile view is different than desktop. And it’s going to be different if you are using the regular Facebook app to view it or the Pages Manager App. For example, if you navigate to your Page on the regular Facebook app, you can locate your Services tab along the navigation bar that’s beneath Publish/Photo/Promote/Edit Page line. The order from left to right matches the order of your tabs on your desktop view. For me, I have Services immediately following the Home tab, so I can easily locate the Services tab on mobile because it’s just to the right of the Home navigation tab.

Hi Sandra! Did you happen to change your Page template? If so, that may have hidden your Services. You can adjust the tabs that are visible in your template by visiting your Page, then Settings, then Edit Page. Hope that helps!

Is there a way to provide a link to a webpage in a service description? We are a hospital and plan to list several services, but were hoping to link to our hospital’s website that is specifically dedicated to the service list. Is hyperlinking possible?

    Thank you!

At this time, any links added to your Services are not “live”, clickable links. Thanks!

I ‘trashed’ the duration but when I post the service it says “Duration Varies”. How can I remove that?? Thanks in advance!

    Reply
    • The E R Team

      Hi Rebecca,

I tested this out on my own Page. For existing Services that I previously published, I was able to completely eliminate the “Duration Varies” phrase by trashing, like you did. However, if I tried to do the same with a new Service, it didn’t allow me to. So at this point, it seems like it’s something to keep checking on occasionally and hope that Facebook goes back to letting us remove that entirely.

      Hi Chloie,

That you had a Service tab and then it disappeared is super strange (and I’m sure quite frustrating!). Had you changed the Page categories at all? Did you add or change the address/location? The one commonality I’ve seen with Pages that aren’t cooperating with the Services tab is that they are outside of the US. Facebook does differ with how it rolls out features in different countries, which is why I ask if you added or changed your location.

I’ve had this same problem. It was there – now gone, though the list is still there of services. I can’t update photos or anything -because it took those away. Still can’t get the services tab back.

            Hi Kanani,

I visited your Facebook Page and you are using some type of booking service on your Page, and that’s connected to your Services. Services by default do not offer a clickable button or any field to add a link. I would suggest trying to visit the app you are using to allow bookings through your Page and see if you can modify your links that way. Good luck!

      Hi Jaanika!

I haven’t run into a specific number/limitation yet, so I’m not sure. No matter how many you add, Facebook only shows the top 3 (based on how you position your services) before someone would need to click to view all of them.

I’ve added the services tab. I go in and add a service, but when I click save, the service never appears on my page or the services tab. I’ve tried on desktop and mobile, and even on different browsers. I’ve even gone so far as to try to add services on different pages I manage. The added service just never appears after saving it.
