It may be due to experiencing social media overwhelm, wanting to disconnect from a friend or family member who posts too often (or too controversially), or a sense of obligation to accept a Page like request from someone you know who just started their own business. Let’s face it: We all have been faced with the awkward dilemma where we don’t want to see a friend’s or fan page’s updates in our news feed, yet we can’t bring ourselves to fully detach.
Thank goodness for the added feature from Facebook to remain connected as a Friend or a Fan while unfollowing their updates.
How to Unfollow a Facebook a Fan Page
Step 1: Visit the specific fan page you want to unfollow.
Step 2: Locate the Like and Following buttons on the right side, beneath the cover photo.
Step 3: Click the Following button once. You’ll see it change to Follow.
How to Unfollow a Facebook Friend
Step 1: Visit your Friend’s profile.
Step 2: Locate the Friends and Following buttons on the right side, beneath their cover photo.
Step 3: Click the Following button once. You’ll see it change to Follow.
Side note: Tweetdeck has had a universal filter feature for a while, and Facebook is set to roll out a way for people to hide all updates from a specific website.
